GHS/OCD Host Hazardous Material & Maritime Security Training for Port Personnel

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the UCLA – Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program, will host the Hazardous Material & Maritime Security Training for Port Personnel on Wednesday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Port Authority of Guam training room, Piti.

Participants of the training are taught to recognize and to safely and effectively deal with hazardous material emergencies and security threats in the maritime environment. The course will review how to use the North American Emergency Response Guidebook and will include a group problem solving table-top exercise.

Attendees for the course include personnel who work in the maritime environment, Government of Guam, federal, military, private, and non-profit organizations. The training is federally mandated for all persons who work in the seaport to include: administrative, cargo handlers, truck drivers, crane operators, longshoremen, stevedores, etc.
