SPECIAL NOTE: Based on today's data, if we were to compare two (2) hypothetical populations of 100,000 people each, vaccinated versus unvaccinated, there would be 12 vaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19 compared to 76 unvaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19. The risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 is about 6 times higher for the unvaccinated as compared to the vaccinated. *Estimated population is based on DPHSS Immunization Program analysis of 2020 Census data. Updates are expected pending further Census 2020 data breakdown.

383rd COVID-19-related Fatality Reported

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 383rd COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Regional Medical City on August 3, 2022. “To his family and those who loved him, know that our island grieves with you and we pray you find healing and comfort in this most difficult time,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “With each loss, we are reminded that this pandemic remains with us–that we must maintain the mitigation measures to protect our most vulnerable. Please continue to wear your mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance, and please stay up to date with your COVID vaccinations and boosters.”
