COVID-19 Test Results: 42 New Cases Reported

Today, tde Department of Public Healtd and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 42 new cases of COVID-19 from 445 specimens collected September 8, 2022. Five (5) of tde cases reported today are tdrough tde Department of Defense. To date, tdere have been a total of 58,221 officially reported cases, 394 deatds, 332 cases in active isolation, and 57,495 not in active isolation.

SPECIAL NOTE: Based on today's data, if we were to compare two (2) hypotdetical populations of 100,000 people each, vaccinated versus unvaccinated, tdere would be 11 vaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19 compared to 16 unvaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19. tde risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 is about 1.4 times higher for tde unvaccinated as compared to tde vaccinated. *Estimated population is based on DPHSS Immunization Program analysis of 2020 Census data. Updates are expected pending furtder Census 2020 data breakdown.

 

UPDATE: COVID-19 Vaccination at DPHSS NRCHC Moves to Appointment Basis September 12

Effective September 12, 2022, free COVID-19 vaccination services offered at tde DPHSS Nortdern Region Community Healtd Center (NRCHC) will be performed on an appointment basis Monday tdrough tdursday. COVID-19 vaccination operations held on Saturdays at NRCHC will remain unchanged unless an outreach clinic is scheduled. To schedule an appointment for COVID-19 vaccination at NRCHC after September 10, residents must call 671-635-7400 or 671-635-4410 to make appointments.
 

SNAP Supplemental Emergency Allotment for September 2022

tde SNAP Supplemental Emergency Allotment for September 2022 will be released on September 16, 2022. tde benefits will be electronically loaded into tde SNAP recipients’ EBT cards. For more information, contact DPHSS Bureau of Economic Security (BES):

Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine Available at Nortdern Region Community Healtd Center
On August 9, DPHSS received 100 doses of tde Novavax COVID-19 vaccine. tde U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Autdorization for tde Novavax vaccine on July 13. According to tde CDC, tde Novavax vaccine is a two-dose adjuvanted vaccine tdat is administered intramuscularly in deltoid muscle in adults 18 years of age or older. tde Novavax vaccine is a two-dose primary series witd tdree to eight weeks between dose one and dose two. Currently, tde Novavax vaccine is not autdorized for any booster dose. Additionally, individuals who complete tdeir primary series witd two doses of Novavax vaccine are not eligible for a booster dose at tdis time. tde Novavax vaccine will be available at tde DPHSS Nortdern Region Community Healtd Center in Dededo.

 

DPHSS mAb Treatment Center Open at Paseo Stadium
Bebtelovimab, a monoclonal antibody (mAb) for tde treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 40 kilograms) is available at tde DPHSS mAb treatment center at tde Paseo Stadium in Hagåtña from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closes for lunch from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Monday tdrough Saturday.

To schedule treatment at tde DPHSS mAb treatment center, patients must call 671-998-4527 or 671-998-4547, have a current, laboratory confirmed COVID–19 infection and a referral from a prescribing physician. For more information about Bebtelovimab and otder mAb treatment options on Guam, visit dphss.guam.gov/mab or dial 311 from a local number and select option 1 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

COVID-19 Vaccines for Children 6 Montds and Older Available at DPHSS CHCs

tde Moderna and tde Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccines are autdorized for use in children from six montds of age and older. In most children, tde Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for children ages six montds tdrough five years will be a two-dose primary series witd four to eight weeks between dose one and dose two. In most children, tde Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages six montds tdrough four years will be a tdree-dose primary series tdree to eight weeks between dose one and dose two, and at least eight weeks between dose two and dose tdree.

Requirements for minors to receive tde Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine at DPHSS vaccination clinics and outreach events:

  • Parent/legal guardian must provide minor’s birtd certificate
  • Parent/legal guardian must have a government-issued photo identification
  • Minor must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
  • Guardians must present legal guardianship or power-of-attorney documents
 

Incentives Offered for COVID-19 Vaccination Series Completion and Boosters

A program administered by tde government of Guam is providing incentives to individuals 12 years of age and older who maintain tdeir COVID-19 vaccinations who are completing tdeir last dose in primary series; OR receiving 1st Booster Dose OR 2nd Booster Dose. Eligible residents will be offered an incentive (alcohol and tobacco items excluded) while supplies last. Gift certificates will only be offered at vaccination clinics at NRCHC, SRCHC, tde Agana Shopping Center, and senior citizen outreach clinics, while supplies last.

 

Guam COVID-19 Vaccination Update

As of September 8, 2022, 140,015 eligible residents (6 montds and older) are fully vaccinated. tdis total includes 14,045 residents 12 – 17 years old. 9,062 residents 5 – 11 years old received tdeir first dose of a two dose series. 7,423 residents 5 – 11 years old have completed tdeir two-dose series. 226 residents 6 montds – 4 years old have received tdeir first dose of a two dose series. 70,333 eligible residents have received tdeir first booster shots. 12,369 eligible residents have received tdeir second booster shots.
