JIC RELEASE NO. 68 - Profiles of Earlier Confirmed Cases; Joint Information Center WhatsApp Information Service Available

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) tested 38 individuals for COVID-19 on Friday, April 10, 2020 with conclusive results. Zero tested positive through DPHSS and 38 tested negative for SARS-CoV-2. Two additional test results were positive through the Diagnostic Laboratory Services (DLS) on April 10, as reported at a media briefing and JIC Release No. 66. Updated results will be provided later this evening once today’s test results are finalized. There will be no tests run on Sunday, April 12, 2020. Tests will resume on Monday, April 13, 2020.

Because test results are reported from multiple labs at varying times of the day, the cumulative total from all labs, known at the time of release, will be reported on a nightly basis.

Preliminary Profiles of Confirmed Cases
Profiles of the 130 COVID-19 cases include two clinically diagnosed cases, reports of 11 confirmed positive cases received from the U.S. Naval Hospital that were tested by the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) in San Diego, and three confirmed positive cases through DLS.

To date, a total of 130 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 41 recoveries and four deaths. As this is an evolving situation, information is subject to change with little to no notice.

Joint Information Center on WhatsApp
The Joint Information Center has added an information service for the public through mobile app WhatsApp in an effort to provide simple, actionable guidance to the community. The service offers general tips and resources for users in order to reduce the spread of rumors and connect with accurate information through their mobile phone.

The service can be accessed by a link that opens a conversation on WhatsApp. Users can simply type “info” to activate the conversation, prompting a menu of options that can help answer their questions about COVID-19. The WhatsApp resource is an automated source of information from a local number that is not monitored by a person. The information provided is automated and pre-set. It will not be a source to communicate with an actual person.

To access the automated resource from the Joint Information Center via WhatsApp, visit the following official link from your mobile phone: https://wa.me/16716886219?text=info

For inquiries on COVID-19, contact 311 through a local number, or call the Joint Information Center at (671) 478-0208/09/10.
