D-SNAP Enrollment Period Ends; Applicants May Get a Call from DPHSS

Guam residents with losses caused by Typhoon Mawar are able to register for federal disaster assistance. The deadline to apply for FEMA individual assistance is July 27. The following Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are accessible 7-days a week and will also be operational on Tuesday, July 4, during the holiday:

  • Guam Community College: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  • Juan M. Guerrero Elementary School, Dededo: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. 

  • C.L. Taitano Elementary School, Sinajana: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Inalahan Community Center: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

FEMA will be closing the DRC at Inalahan Community Center on Wednesday, July 5. 

FEMA DRCs are accessible facilities and mobile offices you can visit to learn more about FEMA and other disaster assistance programs. The DRC will be open to assist island residents impacted by Typhoon Mawar with disaster relief programs. The U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) will also have representatives ready to assist with enrollment of applicants.

Guam homeowners and renters who were affected by Typhoon Mawar can also register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-3362, visiting disasterassistance.gov or downloading the application on the FEMA App. For more information about registration, processing and FEMA’s Individual Assistance Programs, visit fema.gov.  

To date, nearly 27,000 Guam residents have applied for disaster assistance and over $44 million approved.

D-SNAP Enrollment Period Ends; Applicants May Get a Call from DPHSS
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) ended the Disaster Supplemental Assistance Program (D-SNAP) enrollment period on Saturday, July 1, 2023. Preliminary numbers show that a total of 35,206 people applied. A total of 35,073 or 96.8% of paper applications have been approved. This figure is subject to change as DPHSS reviews each application. Individuals who applied for D-SNAP up to June 24, who had no discrepancies, may see their benefits uploaded into their EBT card by tonight after 7 p.m. DPHSS is currently processing individuals who applied on June 25 and June 26.
DPHSS would like to remind D-SNAP participants that their benefits will be valid for 274 days. 

DPHSS will be contacting individuals who have discrepancies on their application. During the call, applicants may be asked for information to ensure the completeness of their D-SNAP application. Such information may include items like their date of birth. Rest assured these calls are legitimate and are intended to ensure benefits are issued. Please be aware that DPHSS will be calling using the numbers 671-300-8880 or 671-300-8882 during the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; these numbers will only be active during this time-period.
