Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect this Evening; High Risk of Rip Currents through Friday

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 9 p.m. this evening.  Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required. These storms may produce occasional lightning.

Practice Caution in Gusty Winds; Inexperienced Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office advised a strong thunderstorm is impacting portions of central Guam. Winds in excess of 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected. These gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include Dededo, Tamuning, Yigo, Mangilao, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Barrigada, Yona, Hagatna Heights, Talofofo, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Asan, Piti, Santa Rita, and Umatac.
 
   

High Surf Advisory and High Risk of Rip Currents in Effect; Inexperienced Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a high surf advisory in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday. Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet are expected along north and east facing reefs. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are expected.
