Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 130 New Cases Reported November 29 – December 5

Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 130 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,369 specimens analyzed from tests administered November 28 – December 4, 2022:

 
  • December 5: 3 of 131 test positive for COVID-19

  • December 4: 19 of 94 test positive for COVID-19

  • December 3: 14 of 137 test positive for COVID-19

  • December 2: 27 of 319 test positive for COVID-19

GHS/OCD Hosts Active Shooter Awareness Training

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT), will offer the PER-375 Surviving an Active Threat: Run. Hide. Fight. Training on two separate days at the GHS/OCD facility, Agana Heights:
  • Monday, December 12, 2022, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., OR
  • Tuesday, December 13, 2022, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

    Practice Caution in Gusty Winds; Inexperienced Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office advised a strong thunderstorm is impacting portions of central Guam. Winds in excess of 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected. These gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include Dededo, Tamuning, Yigo, Mangilao, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Barrigada, Yona, Hagatna Heights, Talofofo, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Asan, Piti, Santa Rita, and Umatac.

    JIC RELEASE NO. 1153 - Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 141 New Cases Reported November 22–28, Eight Hospitalized; Two COVID-19-related Fatalities Reported; Additional COVID-19 Updates

    Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 141 New Cases Reported November 22–28

    Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 141 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,120 specimens analyzed from tests administered November 21–27, 2022:

     
    • November 28: 4 of 131 test positive for COVID-19

    • November 27: 15 of 147 test positive for COVID-19

    • November 26: 18 of 142 test positive for COVID-19

    • November 25: 5 of 52 test positive for COVID-19

    High Risk of Rip Currents in Effect through Friday; Inexperienced Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office advised a high risk of rip currents is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan from Monday evening through Friday afternoon. Dangerous rip currents are expected for east facing reefs of the Marianas.

    Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous rip currents.

    High Surf Advisory and High Risk of Rip Currents in Effect; Inexperienced Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a high surf advisory in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday. Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet are expected along north and east facing reefs. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are expected.

    Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.

    GHS/OCD, JRM, NBG, and AAFB to Conduct Routine Testing of Advanced Warning Systems

    The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), Joint Region Marianas (JRM), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, starting at 3:15 p.m.

    GHS/OCD will test the nineteen (19) All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) sirens in conjunction with JRM, NBG, and AAFB monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV)” sirens.

    Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 150 New Cases Reported November 15–21

    Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 150 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,381 specimens analyzed from tests administered November 14–20, 2022:

    • November 21: 3 of 128 test positive for COVID-19

    • November 20: 11 of 92 test positive for COVID-19

    • November 19: 27 of 192 test positive for COVID-19

    • November 18: 21 of 200 test positive for COVID-19
