NWS Issues Fire Weather Watch for Guam

NWS Issues Fire Weather Watch for Guam

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office, issued a fire weather watch for Guam, in effect through late Sunday night. A fire weather watch means critical fire weather conditions may occur.

NWS advised the weekend calls for only a few brief showers. Vegetation will continue to dry out as no wetting rains are expected. Spot fires have already been observed at various locations across the island over the last few days.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind that all care and caution must be exercised at this time. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Practice caution if discarding any smoking materials. Any fires that develop may be difficult to control.
