NWS Issues Short Term Forecast; Practice Caution on the Roadways

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short-term forecast for Guam. Through 5 p.m., a few showers and isolated thunderstorms are developing over central and southern Guam, from near Asan, Polaris Point area, south to Agat. Locally heavy rain and occasional lightning are expected. Some locations may receive an inch or more of rainfall.

If driving, be alert for near-zero visibility in heavy rain. Watch for ponding of water on the road. If outdoors, find shelter if thunder is heard. Be alert for brief flooding in poor drainage areas.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to practice extreme caution while traveling in these rainy conditions, allowing enough braking distance between vehicles.
