NWS Issues Special Weather Statement; Developing Circulation to Pass the Vicinity of the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a special weather statement for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. A developing circulation is now about 250 miles south-southwest of Guam moving northwest around 10 mph.
Showers and thunderstorms associated with the system are expected to affect the Marianas today and persist through Tuesday.
 
Breezy conditions and heavy showers are expected today through Tuesday. Wind gusts to 30 mph are also possible in the heavier showers. Brief flooding in poor drainage areas is possible.
 
GHS/OCD, with guidance from NWS, will continue to monitor the system and provide updates as needed. The community is advised to heed any advisories that come from the NWS in the coming days.
