NWS Issues Thunderstorm Advisory; Showers Expected for Today

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory for the Guam International Airport until 8:30 a.m. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.

NWS continue to monitor a weak circulation southwest of Guam and a surface trough just to the southeast. As the trough moves over Guam, it will maintain showers and thunderstorms for Guam today and then Saipan and Tinian tonight. Drier weather is expected Tuesday.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to practice caution while traveling in the rain, driving below the speed limit and allowing enough braking distance between vehicles. Be alert and take precautions by seeking shelter when lightning is seen or thunder is heard.
