Salvation Army Guam Corps Extends Expiration Date of Thrift Store Vouchers

 Barrigada, Guam [July 16, 2023] – While many survivors of Typhoon Mawar received vouchers for clothing and household items at The Salvation Army Guam Corps thrift store, not everyone has been able to visit the store to redeem them.  As a result, redemption of the vouchers, set to expire on July 31, 2023, is now being extended through August 31, 2023.  Additionally, extended operating hours have been announced for The Salvation Army thrift store, located at 370 Chalan San Antonio, Tamuning. Starting Monday, July 17, the store will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and will be closed on Sundays. Most recently, the store was closing daily at 4 p.m.

 “We are pleased to be able to extend the shopping hours at the thrift store to make it more convenient for our customers,” said Victor Leonardi, Divisional Director of Emergency Services & Safety for The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division. “And, as the island continues to recover, we realized it made sense to extend the vouchers so more could be redeemed to help those in need. The thrift store is also in need of additional donations of household items and continues to accept donations on Tuesdays and Thursdays.”

 Leonardi continued, “During emergencies, the best way the public can help is to provide monetary donations which allows the delivery of the exact relief supplies a community needs. Plus, The Salvation Army uses 100% of all donations designated ‘disaster relief’ in support of disaster operations.”
