The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office continue to monitor a tropical disturbance in eastern Micronesia, near Chuuk. The Joint Typhoon Warning Center issued a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert on this disturbance, Invest Area 95W.

Preliminary Damage Assessments Underway After Tropical Storm Kammuri

Pursuant to the Guam Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) and other Government of Guam (GovGuam) support agencies have begun conducting an island-wide Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) following the passage of Tropical Storm Kammuri south of Guam between, November 26-27, 2019.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero has placed Guam in Condition of Readiness (COR) 4 as of 11 a.m. COR 4 means damaging winds are no longer expected for the Marianas. The threat of tropical storm force conditions has ceased.

Tropical Storm Kammuri made its closest point of approach around 1 a.m. Wednesday, approximately 140 miles south of Guam. Kammuri will continue to move west away from the Marianas throughout the day. Tropical storm force winds of 39 mph or more are expected to persist this morning, then subside in the afternoon.
