NWS Issues Short Term Forecast; Practice Caution on the Roadways

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short term forecast for Guam. Through 3 p.m., brief thunderstorms will produce moderate to heavy showers over Guam. Between a half inch of rain and lower visibility is expected in these thunderstorms.

If driving, be alert for lower visibility and ponding of water on the roadways.

NWS Issues Short Term Forecast; Practice Caution on the Roadways

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short term forecast for Guam. Through 6 p.m., moderate to heavy showers will persist over the southwest coast of Guam from near Asan southward to Merizo, including Route 1. About a quarter inch of rain has fallen for the past hour and additional rainfall of a quarter inch is expected for the next two hours.
 

If driving, be alert for lower visibility and ponding of water on the roadways.

Results: Two New Cases of COVID-19
Two (2) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 494 tests performed Monday, April 5. Two (2) cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine. To date, there have been a total of 7,825 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 136 deaths, 28 cases in active isolation, and 7,661 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.2.

No new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 104 tests performed on Saturday, April 3. To date, there have been a total of 7,816 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 136 deaths, 31 cases in active isolation, and 7,649 not in active isolation.

COVID-19-Related Fatalities Reviewed and Adjusted
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) Chief Medical Officer and Territorial Epidemiologist, in coordination with the Acting Chief Medical Examiner, have been conducting a review of all possible COVID-19-related deaths. This coordinated review process has resulted in the classification of two additional deaths as COVID-19-related and has brought Guam’s current COVID-19-related death count to 136.

Results: Two New Case of COVID-19
Two (2) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 550 tests performed on Tuesday, March 30. To date, there have been a total of 7,807 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 134 deaths, 25 cases in active isolation, and 7,648 not in active isolation.

GHS/OCD,JRM, NBG, and AAFB to Conduct Routine Testing of Advanced Warning Systems

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), Joint Region Marianas (JRM), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, starting at 3:15 p.m.

 

GHS/OCD will test the nineteen (19) All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) sirens in conjunction with JRM, NBG, and AAFB monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV)” sirens.
