GHS/OCD, NBG, and AAFB to Conduct Routine Testing of Advanced Warning Systems

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, February 5, starting at 3:15 p.m.

 

GHS/OCD will test the All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) from fifteen (15) locations in conjunction with NBG and AAFB monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV).”

 

NWS Advisories in Effect for the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect: 

A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 p.m. this evening, meaning high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet along north facing reefs and surf as high as 9 feet along east facing reefs is expected. 

NWS Advisories in Effect for the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect:

Hazardous surf of 8 to 10 feet along north facing reefs and as high as 10 feet along east facing reefs is expected.
