The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory for the Guam International Airport until 4 p.m. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. 

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to be alert and take precautions by seeking shelter when lightning is seen or thunder is heard.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) and the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC) hosted a training by the National Threat Assessment Training Center (NTAC), a component of the United States Secret Service (USSS), on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort.

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office monitor what has become Tropical Depression 26W.

As of 1 a.m., the tropical depression was centered near 14.2 degrees north latitude and 164.1 degrees east longitude, about 640 miles northeast of Pohnpei and 1295 miles east of Guam. It is moving west at 18 mph with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.

Guam was recently included in a nationwide youth preparedness initiative called MyPI, short for “My Preparedness Initiative.” MyPI is a four-time, national award-winning youth preparedness/youth leadership program designed to enhance individual, family, and community preparedness as well as a variety of leadership development characteristics.

Guam is to be included in the initiative and join the now expanded MyPI with 33 other states and territories.

Tsunamis are rare but can affect many people, especially those living in coastal communities across multiple countries. Awareness, education, early warning systems, and detection can save lives.
